Our client is a leading multi-format digital retail operator specializing in children's products in Eastern Europe. Recognized as one of the largest and fastest-growing online retailers in their segment, the company offers an extensive range of online and offline products.
Challenge
The company used a standalone SAP EWM 9.0 system to manage a busy and complex inventory across online and offline sales. However, as they expanded quickly and added more product types, their existing system struggled to keep up. They also needed to meet local legal requirements and connect with several non-SAP services they already used.
Aligning newly introduced business processes with the variety of existing solutions also posed a significant challenge. The project aimed to empower the client's internal teams through expert support from ACBaltica EWM and ERP consultants, who provided turnkey solutions and handled complex independent development tasks.
Project scope
- Automation of precise putaway
Since the client's product control procedure during the putaway process was too complicated for basic Work Center functionality, we developed a comprehensive tool that effectively manages product surplus and shortages, performs accurate control sign accounting, and optimizes storage bin allocations.
- Mixed HU unloading
Developed tailored solutions for handling mixed handling units (HU) from diverse suppliers (like clothes of different sizes (S, M, L, etc.), food and non-food production, chemicals, and KIT goods). These solutions replaced standard RF transactions with customized logic for various product categories.
- Multi-picking optimization
Optimized picking process to suit thousands of hours of shipments that the customer performs daily. To do that, we created sophisticated wave-releasing logic and algorithms to analyze shipments efficiently. These measures helped significantly reduce the time warehouse staff spent completing daily picking tasks.
